Scott Arniel seems to have made it big when he was named head coach but that is until you realize that it is the struggling National Hockey League team. This is definitely an establishment post when you look at the entirety of the NHL Hockey Finals structure. The post was given to him by the Columbus Blue Jackets and he will have his work cut out trying to make the team into a winning formula that can challenge the highest championships. He does have the pedigree having spent the last four seasons in the coaching role at the Manitoba Moose. He replaces Claude Noel and will have to ensure that he takes the team much further than his predecessor was able to.

At the relatively young age of forty seven years of age, Saunders is still looking to build his career on the different models that have come and gone. He played within the NHL Hockey Finals league between 1981 and 1992 working with the Buffalo Sabres, the Boston Bruins and the Winnipeg Jets. This is the kind of real life experience of playing the game that has made him so good at what he does. This experience has been crucial to turning him into one of the most effective coaches on the circuit. As a coaching member of a team, he had some valuable experience working with Buffalo for three seasons. That management experience will be crucial to dealing with a team that is having some serious problems when compared to the other teams playing in the NHL Hockey Finals.

They were actually scored second last in the NHL Western Conference that happened last season prior to the playoffs. One can only imagine that the morale in the team is not very high and they need a bit of a push to get them to improve their overall performance in the games. If there is a coach that has overcome adversity to triumph, it is Arniel. He will be a great asset to the team and should eventually improve on their last standing.
